Colette
Colette came into our care with her brother, Clayton on March 12th, 2025, after being found on the street at only 1 year old. They were both very scared of people. Clayton was in general good health, however, Colette was found with a wound on the side of her face and a broken arm. We were told they were hit with rocks and shot at with BB guns buy children in their neighborhood. We were distraught that someone would ever treat these two beautiful babies that way, but we were at peace to know they were safe and would never be treated that way ever again!
We worked very closely with both of them, gaining their trust and getting them healthy. We sent Clayton to a foster home where he could be shown what love was and that he was safe. It only took about three weeks until he was the sweetest boy! We took him to the café where he got adopted a month and a half later!
Colette was getting ready to get her leg amputated, and the pre-operation bloodwork showed she was severely anemic. The doctors thought she wasn’t going to survive, but we were determined to try. We got her on medications immediately and monitored her very closely. After about five weeks of treatment, we re-tested her blood, and it was almost perfect! After that, she finally got her surgery. While recovering from surgery, we discovered she came down with ringworm!
Our sweet girl could never catch a break, but it was all worth it in the end! She got adopted buy a very sweet family where she has a lot of bird toys to play with, carpets to run on, and endless love and affection, never having to worry about about any type of danger ever again!
