Pawsitively Seniors Program

In memory of Carol Fox

Pawsitively Seniors Program is a long-term foster partnership between PALnv and foster approved partners. It is a program created by PALnv when the company was in California and we are now able to launch it in Nevada. The Gene HAAS Foundation, that supported the program during 2022/2023 with a generous grant, supplied PALnv with another grant recently to reinitiate the program.

The Pawsitively Seniors Program is designed for low-income seniors whose quality of life would be enhanced because of the many positive effects of pet ownership. Qualifying Seniors are defined as 65 years and over with an income under or between $1500-$1800. All cats participating in this program have been spayed/neutered and are current on vaccinations with general good health. Special needs cats are those who have manageable behavioral or medical issues.

PALnv provides all supplies for the cats, including food, toys, bedding, litter, and all medical costs.

The Pawsitively Seniors program is made possible with a generous grant from the Gene Haas Foundation.

Foster Project: In this long-term foster partnership, PALnv allows one cat into a senior’s home to reside and accompany that individual. PALnv foster cats are either adult or senior cats. The cats are also spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated, tested for FIV/FeLV, tested and treated for any fecal parasites, microchipped, and dewormed.  PALnv also has special needs cats, which are those who have manageable behavioral or medical issues and would have their medical prescriptions and treatments provided by a veterinarian at PALnv.

Medical Project: PALnv will help seniors with the medical care of their foster pets, including, but not limited to, annual vaccinations and checkups, medications and surgeries. PALnv will also provide foster care if the senior needs to go to the hospital or passes away.

Food/Litter/Supplies Project: PALnv will help senior citizens keep their foster cats well fed and taken care of with a food and supplies assistance project. The food is donated by animal welfare groups, individual donors, and volunteers helping with the project. The litter is donated by World’s Best Litter. PALnv will also supply any additional necessities the senior may need for the safeness and happiness of the cat.
